For the 5th consecutive year, KDI Office Technology has partnered with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to help a local family over the holidays. All proceeds raised from KDI’s Annual Holiday Party raffle baskets and half of the 50/50 sales were donated to a family in need. This year Nemours matched KDI with the Anderson family. Emily is a 12-year-old girl who is medically complex with an amazing, spunky attitude and spirit. She was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Cytopathy, which causes difficulties for her each day. She has fought the symptoms of her disease since birth and requires 12 medications twice a day to maintain her current state. She depends on tube feedings of molecular formula and glucose therapy into her intestines as well as the mito cocktail. There sadly is no cure for Mitochondrial disease. KDI also collected holiday cards for Emily from employees at their holiday party which were presented to her mother to help brighten her day while she was recovering from surgery.

“When the social worker from the hospital had said this great company, KDI, wanted to help with some gift cards, I could have never imagined what a generous gift we would receive,” said Emily’s mom. “Amazon gift cards were absolutely perfect as we order monthly supplements and the cost is not covered by insurance. Emily also picked some very thoughtful gifts for her sisters. I absolutely love that she thought of others first!!! Emily’s spirits were lifted as she was able to read each and every card with handwritten encouragement and praise. She has already read them several times and keeps them close by. It means the world to her, just to be thought of, we cannot thank you enough!”

“We are thrilled to have been able to make a difference in Emily’s life,” said Rick Salcedo, KDI President & CEO. “We are so happy to be able to give back to our community by way of helping a family each year. I can’t thank our team enough for their generosity, this year raising $3000. Year-after-year we ask for contributions for this wonderful cause and their generosity is boundless. I’m very proud.”
